The
United States Dept. of Transportation has "unofficially" banned
all sales of after-market HID products for vehicles whose
headlights were not designed for HID use when the vehicle was
built. Because of legal threats to manufacturers of after-market
HID kits and monetary fines for retail vendors, autothing.com no
longer carries kits --
OR
-- replacement bulbs. This means once your HID bulbs burn out,
you will have to revert back to your stock/OEM halogen lighting
system (which compared to HID sucks,
we know!)
While we realize other companies
still sell HID kits online, DO
NOT BUY THEM. Once
they sell all their HID stock, you too will be left without any
source for replacement bulbs and there goes $400+ out the
window. You can still buy from outside the U.S., but weigh the
risks in doing so.
Until a reliable American
company (we're
right outside Chicago, IL) such as autothing.com
offers a consistent product line for HID accessories and kits,
stick to higher-end halogen lighting such as our
PIAA line if you would
love the brightest in non-Xenon lighting.
