We all know how computers are, one minute they work and
the next they don't. Sometimes they crash,
sometimes they shut off, and sometimes they start
smoking
(call the fire department for this). But whatever the symptom
is, autothing has no idea what the cause is, lol. These FAQs
are general to our site only and if your question isn't covered, please
email us so we can help you out. Hey, we love this stuff!
Ok, cool. |

Blah! Why can't I add an autothing
to my shopping-cart? |
|
This could be for any number of reasons. If you are on a public
computer, online shopping could somehow be prohibited on the
public network. If you're using a PC which you know has been
used to shop online before, such as your own or at work (don't
get caught, lol), Internet cookies may somehow be disabled on
your PC. This means that from one screen to the next (especially
during the purchase process), your PC is forgetting the
autothing you just told it to add to your shopping-cart. We
recommend [in Windows XP and up] going, while in your Internet
Explorer browser, to Tools
> Internet
Options... >
Privacy > and
moving the Settings handle down to "LOW," which will give
your PC the go-ahead to work with online shopping-carts. This possibly could help clear
the issue, otherwise consult your Windows manual (don't you just
hate it when you're told to check your Windows manual? Who does
that- really?!?) |

How come my credit card isn't being
accepted? |
|
Two pretty simple possibilities here: (1) You are not using a
MasterCard, VISA, Discover, American Express or PayPal account, which are the
five valid forms of payment the autothing.com Online Store will
currently accept or (2) your credit card may have been rejected
by the credit card verification system because you entered some information
incorrectly or the card account is not current. |

Why does your site look so big/small
on my screen? |
|
This would be the biggest issue when building a website. While
lots and lots of public computers have a screen size (which is
simply the magnification level of your monitor) of 800 x 600
pixels, many home-users have screen sizes set at 1024 x 768 or
above. Since we want everyone to enjoy the site, even those not
yet fortunate enough to own their own personal computer, we
built our site at a resolution of 800 x 600, the minimum screen
size needed to view this site without a problem. Want to change
your screen size now to test a different look? Ok then,
Right
click on the Windows Desktop >
Properties >
Settings Tab > and
change the Screen Resolution level to 1024 x 768. Please
note that you should also set your monitor to view the most
colors possible (usually 32-Bit), since there's no reason you
should miss the great Web design on the Internet (or
autothing.com, for that matter). |

I am a Mac user, so will I be OK
using your site? |
|
You sure will be, especially if you own one of those 26-inch wide Cinema Display
screens (just because they're really cool!) The biggest
problem Mac users have on sites made for Windows users (a
clear monopoly- oops!- we meant majority) is 8 point font
sizes, which are almost impossible to read on a Mac. We tried to
limit our use of 8 point font sizes specifically for that
reason, except here, eh eh
eh. |

Can I make the text on your site
bigger if it's too small for me? |
|
If you are having a hard time reading stuff on the site because
your contacts are out or your glasses are off, no problem (but
how did you read this then, lol?) While in Internet
Explorer, go to View
> Text Size
> and choose the size most
comfortable for your eyes. Note that this works for true text
you can actually copy or
highlight; text used in a photo or
graphic does not get affected by this View option. |
