Though we recommend you visit
www.sequentialtaillights.com to read all the official
explanations, we will give the autothing.com version of their
great info!
Basically, your Mustang has the neatest
looking taillights of any vehicle out on the roads today. The
three red vertical taillight bars make Mustangs visible from any
distance, which is perfect if you want to play catch-up when you
see one ahead of you (presuming you own one as well, of course!)
We do it and see it all the time- other Mustang owners always
and "innocently" gain just enough speed to get near our
Stang's when we drive around, but what can we say?- it simply
rocks to drive around with a bunch of other Ford Mustangs!
(Doing this causes what we describe as "Cheerleader Syndrome"
lol, where you can make non-Mustang drivers want to
follow a group of Mustangs just because the appearance of seeing
a couple of them driving next to each other looks so damn cool).
As for the exclusively-Mustang sequential
taillights, they work [like the animated images show] whenever
you do one of two things: apply
your brakes or use your turn
signals. Immediately below you'll find our factoid list
that tells/shows you how the sequential taillights react when
you do certain things...
>> When you turn left (for example)
and use your turn signal while the exterior lights of your
Mustang are off, this is how the turn signal explodes:

>> When you brake while the
exterior lights of your Mustang are off, this is how each of the
rear taillights reacts (picture repeats every few seconds for
this demo, but the brakes will stay on once pressed and not
explode again). Note that the LED brake light on your trunk lid
instantaneously lights up as per the night shot:

>> Here's that night shot we just
mentioned... When you brake while the exterior lights of your
Mustang are on, this is how each of the rear taillights reacts
(picture repeats every few seconds for this demo, but the brakes
will stay on once pressed and not explode again). Note that the
LED brake light on your trunk lid instantaneously lights up when
the brake pedal is activated:

>> When using the turn signal while
holding the brakes, the turn signal in-use will still have the
explode effect
